Open GDF SUEZ : Sprem copies Loit (posté le Jeudi à h)

Just like Emilie Loit, Karolina Sprem is making her way through the Open GDF SUEZ. Qualified, the Croatian beat the Czech Petra Kvitova (6-3, 6-1). Former WTA number 17 now has to face the winner of the match between Serena Williams and Iveta Benesova.

Romania's Monica Niculescu qualified for the 2nd round of the Open GDF SUEZ at the expense of Switzerland's Timea Bacsinszky 6-4, 6-3, in 1:44 of play. Thursday Niculescu will face the winner of Wednesday's match between Amélie Mauresmo and Italian Sara Errani.

On her way through a very good qualifying tournament, Emilie Loit made a perfect entrance to the main draw. The Normandy native beat Czech  Nicole Vaidisova in two sets (6-1, 6-4) after 56 minutes of play. She will play against the Estonian Kaia Kanepi in the last eight.

Poland's Agnieszka Radwanska gave a bad punishment to the poor Ukranian Oxana Lyubtsova with a merciful score of 6-1, 6-1 on Coubertain's centre court this Tuesday.

Open GDF SUEZ : Kleybanova in the second round (posté le Jeudi à h)

Russian Alisa Kleybanova made it through the first round of the Open GDF SUEZ 2009 this Tuesday by dominating the Bulgarian Tsvetana Pironkova with a score of 6-2, 7-6(3) in 2:04. Poland's Agnieszka Radwanska (n°4) should be her next adversary for a spot in the last eight.

The first Frenchwoman to play this Tuesday, Team GDF SUEZ member Nathalie Dechy stood up to her younger Team partner Sorana Cirstea. The Romanian managed to win the second set, but then folded faced with Dechy's experience.

Open GDF SUEZ: Knockout for Razzano (posté le Jeudi à h)

Virginie Razzano only lasted one set against Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova before folding in two matches with a score of 6-4, 6-1 in exactly one hour of play. The Frenchwoman led 4-3 in the first set before taking on seven  games in a row against the Russian, who curently trains in the Mouratouglou Academy in France's Yvelines department.

Open GDF SUEZ : Kanepi qualifies (posté le Jeudi à h)

A second surprise at Coubertin today. After the elimination of Szavay, last season's finalist, Anabel Medina Garrigues is the first seed to fall during the first round. The Spaniard was defeated by Estonia's Kaia Kanepi at the end of the two-hour match (3-6, 6-2, 7-5).
